Recently, a supporter sent us an article from McKinsey Quarterly called "How leaders kill meaning at work" by Teresa Amabile and Steven Kramer. The authors suggest 4 common management traps which reduce the meaning employees find in their workMediocrity signals, Strategic ‘attention deficit disorder,’ Corporate Keystone Kops, and Misbegotten ‘big, hairy, audacious goals.’ It seems that meaning it will continue to shape company culture more and more, because it is something that is pretty important to the new cohort of "millennials" now joining the workforce.

In many ways (though you'll need to read to understand what they mean by those 4 traps), the article helps spell out the shifting necessities of company culture. How would you suggest a leader or culture might help increase your sense of Purpose and meaning at work?  What choices can you make that will help you personally influence that movement toward Purpose and meaning?
